Subject: Love Handy (Jam) Films !
Handy (Jam) films are just great, we're so lucky to have them available to us, thanx Rick P. ! :-)
Subject: Modern Fabrics
Dynel ultimately was used mostly for the hair they used in cheap toupees advertised in the Sunday paper magazine section. Remember the "Lonnie?"
The nice part was that you could actually get clothing clean in 125 degree water because the detergents in those days had phosphates and as a result actually cleaned clothes.
A drab movie for some reason but does offer some useful information although I do feel slighted at times. Very 1958-ish. A must see for a homemaking class.
Subject: Jeffrey Lynn...
His pants are totally jacked! He needs to find himself a "Modern" tailor to hem both pantlegs to the desired length. His right side is a good two inches shorter than the left!!
wonderfully entertaining film about clothes and washing.i was surprised just how amusing it was, unlike some Ephemeral films that, while interesting, do get a little monotonous after a while. i strongly recommend this film.
Subject: I wash, you wear.
Gaga film that shows us the many uh, benefits of Wash and Wear! Totally stage bound, and hosted by the most detatched narrator imaginable (he wanders in and out of scenes without people realizing heÂs there.. a ghost maybe?) Anyways, he lays it out all for us, telling us all about these weird fabrics, and how you can remove stains easily because of this fabric.. Yeah right guy! Did you hear you diatribe about the process that it needs to be washed?? Fortunately, thereÂs the washer that can do the otherwise impossible job of washing your suit and tuxedo(!!), itÂs a Whirlpool washer, and by golly, theyÂre the sponsor of this film!
Totally gonzo color, just the way I like it, a fab narrator, what more do you want? Reccomended!

Subject: The Wonderful World of Clothing that Melts
Isn't plastic wonderful! This Jam Handy color fest is hosted by a pleasant man in "the automatic suit" who warns of the dangers of incorrect temperatures when washing and drying high tech clothing. With all these problems with modern plastic fibers, I wonder why would anyone want them? Oh, forgot a sec, this is Jam Handy's America and I only need to await the answer: the "RCA Whirlpool Imperial Mark XII".
As in other Jam Handy's of this era, there's an unreality: abstract objects and shapes, plain backlit studio setting, heavenly harp music as the product is reveled, no real world to distract from the message and "surgeulator" product being sold. And just enough humor to let you know you are in on the joke.
Subject: It IS a wonderful world!
Excellent color, great clothes, and liberal use of the word "miracle". I laughed out loud at the list of "modern" fabrics: "Acrilan...Verel...Creslan...Dynel...Zefram..."
Things slow down a bit when he finally gets to the washing machine pitch, but this is still highly recommended.
